Whoah. I need a vacation to recover from this “vacation.” The kids had a blast and that is the most important thing. My husband and I, however, look and feel like we’ve both gotten hit by a semi.
One of the things that kept our group energized was certainly having killer tunes in the minivan. Here are the highlights:
My oldest is on a Civil War kick, so thanks to Smithsonian Folkways for their collection that absolutely rocks his world.
I found a CD labeled “Sounds of the South, Volume 4″ at Amoeba and I grabbed it having no idea what to expect. Imagine my joy when I heard this:
Lastly, Ella Jenkins. I’ve covered her before because I am so absolutely obsessed with her talent. If you do not have her CD, A Life of Song, you need to buy it right now. NOW. The music is beautiful, her stories are so rich and I am in love. Ella, thanks for giving me the strength to get through this trip.

I wear my mom badge with pride, but it doesn’t mean I have to check my cool factor at the door. I love great music, amazing books, handmade toys, and sharing it all with you. Contact me at
