Follow your dreams…

This summer my boys are really exploring their individual identities a lot more than ever before. Since they are so close in age, they have always kind of shared interests. Why? Because it was a heck of a lot more convenient for me that way. But, this summer they are really asserting their opinions and I am learning more and more each day. Although they may look like Irish triplets, different things make them tick.

I’m proud of them for that. Even if it means coming to grips with the fact that I am spending an awful lot more time in the minivan driving them around to separate activities spread throughout the greater LA basin. I like to think that I’m supermom, but really, I’m just a sucker. ;)

We have our history buff, our skateboarding football star, and our “I like to go fast” boy. And that is just this week! I am extremely thankful to the creative minds behind summer camps at museums and skateparks. Places where kids can go behind the scenes and meet with a real live Paleontologist. Camps with field trips to MOCA to see graffiti exhibits. It’s all so darn cool it makes me itch for my very own bento box and BPA free water bottle.

TAKE HOME MESSAGE:

There is no better book (and now DVD, sweet!) to bring this message home than the beloved The North Star by Peter H. Reynolds and illustrated by Tim Curry. Everyone has a different path, and they all have to find their own way. After a long, sun-filled day, I popped in the animated version of the book. Scholastic Storybook Treasures and New Kideo never ceases to amaze me (and my troop). I cannot recommend the magic enough. The boys concur…even if it means more time in the minivan.
