Justin Roberts and a whole lotta Fabulousness…

Yesterday was Grammy day. Living in LA, it seems like there is an awards ceremony every other night. But this was huge. Artists that I call friends of mine were nominated! Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Nap Time Players, Battersby Duo, Bill Harley, Judy Pancoast, and the amazing artists behind Healthy Food For Thought. What could possibly be any cooler than that?

The Childrens Recording Arts Alliance rocked the house by putting on a show at The Mint for all of these amazing artists to perform for local LA kids, with all of the money going to charity. All of the artists donated their time to this great cause. That is what makes this group of individuals so special and unique. Oh, and they can sing.

Battersby Duo started off with their dynamic partnership of fun. You can understand why these folks performed at The White House. They are that good. The sippy cup crowd was digging it. Throw in some bubbles, and these kids were enraptured.

Who better to take the reigns than Bill Harley? This guy is magical. He had the kids in stitches. A boy and a peanut, c’mon, even our most peanut allergic friends could appreciate the humor without an epi-pen in hand. Pure Talent.

Oran Etkin and “Unique Monique” as well as the amazing artists behind Healthy Food for Thought brought together two of my favorite topics: healthy food (I live in health-centric LA, after all), and talented musicians. Wow.

Judy Pancoast is sheer delight. I despise me some Nursery Rhymes. And, hey, this chick gets it. “Blech.” She’s sassy, energetic and a whole lotta fun.

Who better to MC than the talented Ms. Heidi Swedberg? I love her sense of humor, I just wanted her to bust out her ukelele. A girl can dream.

Lastly, the house was absolutely brought down by Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Nap Time Players. Hey, Justin…. “I got so much candy in this bag it’s gonna last me….”

Whoah.

$2,000 was raised for Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. Sweet.

Congratulations to Pete Seeger and Julie Andrews for their wins in the Children’s Music Category. They were certainly in good company. These nominees are dynamo. Children’s music is going places. Won’t you come along for the ride?

    Hey Eva,
Thanks for coming to the concert! I’m so glad you had a good time and I really appreciate your nice comments about me. It was great to be part of such a fun event and to help raise dough for such a good cause.
I’m back in NH now and really missing your nice California sunshine!
