You may remember Kimya as the brilliant musician behind the offbeat Juno music that captured the indie nation by storm. The slightly off-key ballads are made so darn awesome in this album for the kiddos. Warning: Not all songs are suitable for kids. Wait! In a kids album? But, that’s what makes it so fun for this mom in her minivan. I can’t stop laughing. “A is for Apple, B is for Butt….” My seven year old would take these words and run with them. Then, it would be a series of fart, poop, and butt jokes all afternoon. I can’t do that to myself. Instead, I listen to this album sans kids when I’m stuck in traffic and looking for a guffaw or two. We’re talking full belly chortles.
And then….
Keller Williams has the quirky Kimya Dawson humor but it is more sanitized for the young and impressionable. It’s fun and fabulous. My kids were cracking up at the lyrics “don’t pick your toes and then pick your nose, because your nose might smell like your toes and that’s not good.” It’s ridiculously good and gets even better when sung in Chinese. Yes, seriously.
Run, don’t walk, to get this CD for your minivan.

I wear my mom badge with pride, but it doesn’t mean I have to check my cool factor at the door. I love great music, amazing books, handmade toys, and sharing it all with you. Contact me at
